John has welcomed thousands of visitors around the original, modern city since qualifying as a guide in 2009.
In 2012, he established Manchester Food Walks and offers a range of public and private tours combining culture, history and cuisine. These include the Northern Quarter Taster and Ancoats Taster walks, where guiding is combined with five stops in independent local eateries.
Particular interests and specialisms include Manchester's modern architecture and development, LGBT+ history - and obviously food and drink!
A radio producer by profession, he lives in Hulme with a full-size dalek, and can also be found DJing 80s sets in some of the city's finest dancing establishments.
