On this tour guests experience genuine ghost stories that are moving and real.
The stories and tales involve Manchester’s Tudor magician, dead opera singers, the Tear Catcher Tale, the Manchester Shouter, a visitation from the devil and a whole cast of curious characters from the dark heart of the city. You are even instructed how to communicate with the dead in Manchester.
The tour starts in St Ann's Square and an old graveyard for a tale of hanging, drawing and quartering, the cruellest of deaths and one reserved for traitors.
Expect fabulous story-telling and drama and laughter on a memorable tour.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: Drunk or otherwise intoxicated people will not be allowed on the tour and they will not be refunded.
This is a story-telling ghost tour not a psychic experience.
The tours last for around 80 minutes. Minimum age is 12 years. Not all tours may be conducted by Jonathan Schofield. Corporate, educational and special occasion tours can be also be organised. Please wear sensible footwear.
MEET at the Boer War Memorial in St Ann's Square, close to HSBC Bank.
"When you’re in the dark, in a very claustrophobic, strange area, you begin to question whether the person next to you just touched your arm, or if it was someone, or something, else. The Haunted Underworld Tour is a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon – funny and scary. Schofield is an extremely adept tour guide and you’ll pick up a couple of secrets about the wonderful city of Manchester. But be warned, it is definitely not for those of a nervous disposition." Tracey Lowe, The Good Review
"Such a great ghost tour! Thanks for a spooky Halloween." Charlotte Stear
"I would like to thank Jonathan Schofield for scaring the bejesus out of me on the Haunted Underworld tour last night.” Andrew Jackson, Import Manager.
Hi Jonathan, I wanted to drop you a line following our Haunted Tour on Friday. Very simply put, absolutely brilliant!! Thank you for your knowledge and passion for Manchester. As a Mancunian ‘cemented’ to the City (I think Morrissey once said that!) it was fantastic to hear the stories and to experience areas of the city I guess not many have. I will most certainly be taking you up on the alternative tours of the City with other contacts/clients in the near future (I just need to earn a few quid first). Kindest regards, Andy T. Andrew Titterton. Director, for and on behalf of Studio KMA.
